Heaven And Earth

God’s Plan for Reconciliation

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1

It’s interesting to notice that Scripture says, “the heavens and the earth” — not “heaven and hell.” Yet many people, whether they realize it or not, view life as a constant struggle between those two extremes. But what if that’s not the main story the Bible is telling?

If we’re not careful, we can make heaven versus hell the focus — when in reality, God’s story is about something much greater: reconciliation.

The Fall: When Heaven and Earth Were Separated

Imagine two overlapping circles — one representing heaven (God’s realm) and the other earth (our realm). In the beginning, these two spaces overlapped perfectly. God’s world and our world were in harmony. But through the fall, sin caused separation between heaven and earth.

From that moment on, God’s plan has been to bring these two worlds back together again. He longs for His divine reality to dwell with us — for heaven and earth to once more overlap.

The New Covenant: Heaven Touching Earth Again

“For this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.” — Matthew 26:28 NLT

The new covenant is our safe place — the sacred meeting ground where God’s world touches ours. Through Jesus, heaven’s influence once again rests on earth. God’s presence isn’t reserved for some distant future; it’s here, now, transforming the lives of His people.

From the moment we enter this world, God desires for us to live in this divine paradox — fully human, yet filled with His Spirit; walking on earth, yet reflecting heaven.

The Good News: The Kingdom of God Is Near

“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” — Mark 1:15 NLT

So, what is the Good News?
It’s this: the Kingdom of God is near. Heaven’s reality is overlapping with earth again.

Through Jesus, God has begun the great restoration — healing the separation that began at the fall. The Kingdom is advancing, restoring creation and reuniting heaven and earth. And through His people, this restoration continues today.

We are now the temple of God, the place where heaven dwells on earth. His presence fills us so that we can fill the world with His light.

Heaven and Earth, Not Heaven and Hell

Now, to be clear — this doesn’t mean hell doesn’t exist. But it does mean that hell is not the main point. The focus of the Gospel is not merely avoiding hell, but living in God’s presence — experiencing heaven on earth through Jesus Christ.

When God’s space enters our space, life bursts forth. Our true identity is awakened. We become new creations — completely transformed and renewed.

“The old is gone; all things are made brand new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

This is the heart of the Gospel: God reconciling His world with ours, heaven and earth united again through Christ.

Live in His Presence Today

You don’t have to wait for heaven to experience God’s presence. Heaven is already overlapping with your world through Jesus. Live in that truth. Walk in that freedom. Reflect heaven in every part of your life.

Because the story of the Bible is not about escaping earth — it’s about heaven coming to earth.

Amen.
Have a great day!
