Living Beyond the Boundaries of a Day

What about today? Is today all we have, or is there more?

When we think about time, we often limit ourselves to the boundaries of a single day — sunrise to sunset, beginning to end. But what if there’s more to “today” than the ticking of a clock? Scripture reminds us, “A day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day.” This tells us that time, from God’s perspective, is not as rigid as we perceive it. A “day” could represent a season of your life — a few months, a few years, or even a chapter of growth and transformation.

Sometimes, we grow weary of the season we’re in. We long for change, for something new to unfold. Other times, we wish a season would never end. I remember when our kids were growing up — there were precious moments I wanted to hold onto forever, and others I was ready to move past. Life moves through these seasons naturally, but within that flow, we have the freedom to step beyond the boundaries of time as we understand it. We can choose to live beyond the limitations of our current season — to embrace change, growth, and the fullness of life God has for us.

Yet, even as seasons shift, there are things that never change. These constants keep us grounded and remind us of who we are. No matter how our appearance changes or how our perspectives evolve, there’s an unchanging core within us — the same spirit, the same voice, the same relationship with God that began long ago. The same God I spoke to as a child is the same God I speak to now.

This constancy anchors us in the stormy seas of life. It keeps us true to our identity, especially in a world that often pushes us to become something we’re not. We are born with a unique disposition — a particular design that shapes who we are. Within that design, we make choices: good or bad, wise or foolish. But the core of who we are remains. Growth doesn’t mean becoming someone else; it means becoming more fully ourselves.

True growth happens when we accept who we are — when we understand that God loves and affirms us as we are. Some people read about our “new identity in Christ” and think it means losing who they are. But the truth is, it means becoming the truest version of yourself — the one God created and loves deeply. When we realize that, we find peace. We become grounded. We stop striving to be someone else and instead live confidently as the person God designed.

This love, this divine acceptance, is a powerful force. It transforms us from the inside out, giving us courage to live authentically and to grow freely.

So whether you’re in a season of waiting, change, or renewal — know this: you are seen, you are loved, and you have the freedom to live beyond the boundaries of a single day.

Have a blessed day — and may your “today” stretch far beyond what you can see.
