The Distance Between Us
Some people can move on in life without their spouse — they adjust, rebuild, and find their rhythm again. But that’s never really been me. From the beginning, I’ve tried to keep pace with Michelle, no matter who’s leading at the moment. Because I’ve learned that when one person gets too far ahead, the other starts to feel the distance — not always in words, but in the quiet spaces between them.
Lately, I’ve been asking myself: what are we really most committed to? Our dreams, our money, our ego… or our spouse? There’s nothing wrong with ambition — in fact, it often brings out our best. But if we’re not careful, chasing what we want can slowly turn into drifting apart from who we love. Emotional distance doesn’t always announce itself; sometimes it just grows quietly while we’re busy trying to “get ahead.”
Maybe this is just me overthinking. Or maybe it’s something that always matters — something worth noticing before it’s too late. Because once that distance becomes too wide, finding our way back can be harder than we ever imagined.
